Restoration FAQ
What kinds of firearms do you restore?
Heirloom rifles, estate-sale finds, fire-damaged firearms, and older bolt actions — Mausers, Winchesters, Model 12s, and the like. If you're not sure what you have, bring it in: the assessment is free.
What does gun restoration cost?
The assessment and written quote are free, and the quote comes before any bench time. Light rust removal starts around $75, a full metal refinish (bluing) from $195, stock refinishes from $120. Full estate and fire-damage restorations are quoted by estimate.
Will restoration hurt my gun's collector value?
Sometimes, yes — on certain pieces, originality is worth more than a fresh finish. Part of the free assessment is telling you honestly whether the work is worth doing, and where to stop.
Can I ship my firearm to you from out of state?
We're a licensed FFL in Fort Scott, Kansas. Call us first and we'll walk you through the right way to ship your firearm in for work.
Is the firearm safe to shoot after restoration?
Every restoration gets a function test and safety check before it leaves the bench — included in the work, not an add-on.
